Compare apartments using more than the advertised rent. Keep recurring expenses, one-off move-in costs and refundable deposits in view, without treating a deposit as money spent.

Compare like with like, without hiding unknowns
Monthly recurring cost is rent + other recurring charges + estimated utilities. A blank amount means unknown, so any total that depends on it stays unknown. A known recurring subtotal helps you see what you have confirmed, but it is not the full cost. Ask about missing charges before relying on a comparison. Estimates can change.
Worked example: the deposit is cash, not an expense
Apartment A has rent of EUR 1,000, no other recurring charges and estimated utilities of EUR 150. Its recurring cost is EUR 1,150 per month. With EUR 240 in one-off expenses over 12 months, its expense equivalent is EUR 1,170 per month and total expenses are EUR 14,040. The EUR 1,000 refundable deposit is excluded from both expense figures.
If the first full month, one-off expenses and deposit are all due at move-in, the cash needed is EUR 2,390. The worksheet keeps that cash figure visible regardless of the amortization horizon. It does not predict when payments are due, whether a deposit will be returned or whether other fees apply.
How to read the horizon and currencies
Expense equivalent per month = recurring cost + one-off expenses ÷ horizon. Total expenses = recurring cost × horizon + one-off expenses. Money is entered in cents and displayed to two decimals; the monthly equivalent is rounded to the nearest cent, with half cents rounded up. Multiplying the rounded monthly figure can differ from total expenses by a few cents. Deposits are never amortized.
Each option keeps its selected currency. There is no exchange-rate conversion, automatic ranking or affordability judgment. Compare amounts only within the same currency. This is a budgeting worksheet, not a lease review: it does not calculate rent increases, refunds, prorated rent, taxes, legal limits or opportunity costs.
